Artist Statement

My etching and sculpting are an act of quarrying, within myself and in material. Home and quarry are the two main subjects which accompany my creations. A quarry symbolizes human exploitation and the irreversible extraction of parts of the land. A quarry can be the source from which man or rock can be excavated.

In my work, I explore the homes I have had and the changes I experienced in them. This exploration encompasses the internal and external borders which makes a Home. I engage with the space of “Home”; looking from above and within.

“Consider the rock you were hewn from, the quarry from which you were cut.” Book Isiah, 51
